Timber Sleeper New Oak 2400 x 200 x 100mm

Oak railway sleepers offer an alternative to traditional softwood railway sleepers. Termed as railway sleepers from their past uses in railway line construction, these chunky pieces of timber provide a simple but aesthetically effective way to produce garden walls, planters and borders. Oak sleepers have grown in popularity enormously. The natural aesthetic of sawn oak, combined with the structural benefits (higher resistance to decay and a denser / stronger structure) make for an appealing material option.

These oak sleepers are 2400mm in length with a finished size cross section of 200mm x 100mm and treated using a tanalisation process.

Typically our sleepers will be sourced as French Oak. Our oak sleepers are sold untreated. Although not essential we do recommend treating oak sleepers with a clear oil. Left untreated, oak will turn silver grey. For some, this may be the desired affect, but for those wishing to maintain the initial colour of sawn oak a clear preserver is your best bet.
