Bulk Bag 20mm Ballast Sand

Ballast sand is a blend of sharp sand and 20mm gravel. It is used as the base aggregate when producing groundworking concrete for applications in foundation construction, kerb installations, shed bases and concrete backfills. The incorporation of gravel with sand increases the strength and durability of the concrete. To produce a groundworking concrete the ballast sand needs to be mixed with cement and water at ratio recommended for the application. Typically a ratio of ballast sand:cement of 4:1 would be a suitable ratio with water added at the workers discretion to produce the desired workabilty.
